In short

  • The average banner got 0.37% - 6,397 counted clicks on 1,710,301 impressions of Shopify product ads.
  • Size matters. The thin 320×50 phone strip carries 50.5% of all impressions and gets 0.18%; the twice-as-tall 320×100 gets 1.62%.
  • Several products with prices got the most clicks: 0.44%, against 0.34% for one product with its price.
  • Display is a cheap-click channel, not a high-CTR one. Search and social ads get more clicks per view; banners get the clicks for a fraction of the price.

CTR by ad size

Every size we serve, most clicked first. "Share" is the size's part of all banner impressions - the small sizes at the top run in fewer places, so their rates swing more month to month.

CTR by kind of ad

What we see on Adeagle
Click rate by kind of ad, all sizes
Several products with prices0.44%
Several products0.42%
One product with its price0.34%
One product0.35%
September 1 to October 31, 2026; each kind ran in every size. A grid gives a shopper more chances to see something they want, and a price answers the first question before the click.

With prices, ads with several products got about as many clicks as without (0.44% against 0.42%), and ads with one product about as many clicks as without (0.34% against 0.35%). Several products instead of one got 20% more clicks than a single product. If your banners show one product, a grid with prices is the cheapest change to test. See all four kinds as real ads.

Phones, desktop and apps

What we see on Adeagle
Click rate by the screen a size is made for
Phone sizes (64.7% of impressions)0.28%
Sizes for both (19.3%)0.60%
Desktop sizes (16%)0.49%
Sizes grouped by the screens they are made for - phones: 320×50, 300×50, 480×320, 320×48, 320×100, 320×480; desktop: 728×90, 468×60, 300×600, 180×150, 160×600; both: 300×250, 200×200, 250×250, 250×300.

Most banner views happen in apps, and most clicks on phones. 80.5% of the impressions were inside mobile apps and 19.5% on websites; 73.9% of the clicks came from phones, 20.5% from computers and 5.6% from tablets. Phone sizes got 49% fewer clicks than the other sizes; the thin strips pull them down, so the taller phone sizes (320×100, 320×480) are worth asking for.

Display vs search and social ads

ChannelTypical CTRWhat a click costs
Banner ads (our network)0.37%$0.13-$0.30
Social ads1.71%-2.39%$0.70-$0.87
Search ads4.10%$1.16-$4.14

A low CTR is not a bad result on its own: what counts is the cost of a visit and what the visit buys. Work out your own numbers with the CTR calculator and the CPC calculator, and see what a good ROAS is for your margin.

Method

  • Window: September 1 to October 31, 2026. The page shows the last full months of data and is updated monthly.
  • Impressions: every banner view of a Shopify product ad served by Adeagle on websites and in apps - 1,710,301 in this edition.
  • Clicks: counted clicks only. Duplicate and suspicious clicks are removed before counting - about half of all raw clicks.
  • CTR: counted clicks ÷ impressions × 100. Across all our ad formats, the ad blocks inside partner stores included, the rate is 0.29%; this page covers banners only.
  • Not split by country: a third of the impressions carry no country, so a click rate per country would be biased. We publish it once the data allows.

Questions about display ad CTR

0.37% for banner ads of Shopify products in our network (September 1 to October 31, 2026, 1,710,301 impressions, suspicious clicks removed). Depending on the kind of ad, most banners sat between 0.35% and 0.44%.

Above 0.37% is better than the average banner in our data; 0.44% - what ads with several products and prices got - is a good target. A rate well under the average usually means the ad sits in a thin strip such as 320×50, or shows one product.

In our data 320×480 (2.05%), then 180×150 (1.64%), 320×100 (1.62%), 160×600 (1.41%) - but each carries a small share of impressions, so their rates swing month to month. The most common size, 320×50, got 0.18%, and 300×250 0.46%.

Not in this edition. With prices, ads with several products got about as many clicks as without (0.44% against 0.42%), and ads with one product about as many clicks as without (0.34% against 0.35%).

A search ad answers a question someone typed; a social ad sits in the feed they scroll. A banner shows next to content people came to read or use. Search ads average about 4.10% and social ads 1.71%-2.39% - but a click from a banner usually costs much less (Adeagle: $0.13-$0.30 per visit).
